Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports

Welcome

Placer County Office of Education is dedicated to supporting the academic and behavioral success of all students. Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) is a critical framework supporting schools in creating a climate where all students can achieve and learn. PBIS is one of the foremost advancements in the school-wide system of supports for schools promoting proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting students and positive school climate. PBIS is a tiered approach to systematic behavioral interventions and positive acknowledgment of students enhancing the capacity of schools, families, and communities.

Information

PBIS Framework

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support uses a multi-tiered systems framework to provide a continuum of positive behavior interventions for all students within a school. The intervention continuum includes Tier 1, which is Primary Prevention for all students; Tier 2 provides additional targeted group interventions and supports for students needing more supports than Tier 1 provides; Tier 3 provides specialized and individualized supports and interventions for youth needing more intensive interventions.

Connect with PBIS

The California PBIS Coalition  (CPC) is a collaborative organization using evidence-based, culturally relevant practices to build the capacity for all stakeholders in the implementation of PBIS as a multi-tiered system following the National PBIS Blueprints for professional development, implementation, and evaluation.  www.pbisca.org
